Strand 5 - Schools and Colleges Community Engagement

Aim

To raise awareness of the opportunities offered by higher education (HE) amongst young people who have not considered this option. The Strand will work with young people and/or key influencers such as parents, youth workers, etc.

Description

Strand Five seeks to raise the profile of HE through five main geographical areas. In each area, a local FE college takes the lead for strand activities:

Cornwall College - Cornwall (claybelt, West Cornwall - Camborne, Pool and Redruth)

Plymouth College of Art and Design - Plymouth

South Devon College - Torbay

North Devon College - North Devon/North Cornwall

Each area works with partners in local schools, college and local communities and encourages joint activities. In addition, strand 5 also links with other strands in the Peninsula Programme to ensure that young people and key influencers in schools and colleges can benefit from a complementary menu of activities which meets their particular requirements.
